Jesus taught us, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works
and give glory to your Father in Heaven.”  –Matthew 5:16

A Lamp Under a Jar

Jesus taught, “No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed but puts it

on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is hidden that will not be

disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light.  Then pay

attention to how you listen; for to those who have, more will be given and from those who do

not have, even what they seem to have will be taken away.”

The True Kindred of Jesus

Then Jesus’ mother and His brothers came to Him but they could not reach Him because of the

crowd and He was told, ‘Your mother and your brothers are standing outside wanting to see

You.’ Jesus said to them, “My mother and My brothers

are those who hear the Word of God and do it.”  –Luke 8:16-21

No One Is Righteous

What then? Are we better off? No, not at all;

For we have already charged that all, both Jew and Greeks (Gentile)

are under the power the power of sin, as it is written: (Psalm 14:1-3)

“There is no one who is righteous, not even one;

There is no one who has understanding,

there is no one who seeks God.

All have turned aside, together, they have become worthless;

there is no one who shows kindness,

there is not even one.” (Isaiah 53:6)

“Their throats are opened graves; (Psalm 5:9)

they use their tongues to deceive.”

“The venom of vipers is under their lips.” (Psalm 140:3)

“Their mouths are full of cursing.” (Psalm 10:7)

“Their feet are swift to shed blood;  (Proverbs 1:16)

ruin and misery are in their paths

and the way of peace they have not known.”

“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”  (Psalm 36:1)

Now we know that whatever the Law says,

it speaks to those who are under the Law,

so that every mouth may be silenced

and the whole world may be held accountable to God.

For “no human being will be justified in His sight” (Psalm 143:2)

by deeds prescribed by the Law, for through the Law

comes the knowledge of sin.

Righteousness Through Faith

Now, apart from the Law, the righteousness of God

has been disclosed and is attested by the Law and the Prophets,

the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ,

for All who Believe!

For there is no distinction, since All have sinned

all fall short of the Glory of God;

They are now justified by His Grace as a Gift,

through the Redemption that is in Christ Jesus, (Hebrews 9:12)

who God put forward as a sacrifice of atonement, (Hebrews 9:15)

by His Blood, effective though faith.

He did this to show His righteousness because in His Divine

forbearance He had passed over the sins previously committed;

It was to prove at the present time that He (Jesus) Himself is

righteous and that He justifies the one who has faith in Jesus!  –Romans 3:9-26

Blessed are they who when they hear the Word of God, hold it fast in an honest and good heart and bear fruit with patient endurance. Cf. Luke 8:15   Image Courtesy: Catholic Saints Info

The Parable of the Sower

When a great crowd gathered and people from town after town came to Him (Jesus) He said in a parable:

“A sower went out to sow his seed and as he sowed, some fell on the path and was trampled on and the

birds of the air ate it up. Some fell on the rock and as it grew up, it withered for lack of moisture. Some

fell on the thorns and the thorns grew with it and choked it. Some fell into good soil and when it grew, it

produced a hundredfold.”

As Jesus taught this, He called out, “Let anyone with ears to hear listen!”

The ‘Parable of the Sower’ Explained

Jesus then said, “Now the parable is this: The seed is the Word of God. The ones on the path are those

who have heard, the the devil comes and takes away the Word from their hearts, so that they may not

believe and be saved. The ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the Word, receive it with joy

but these have no root, they believe only for awhile and in a time of testing fall away. As for what fell

among the thorns, these are the ones who hear but as they go on their way, they are choked by the cares

and riches and pleasures of life and their fruit does not mature. As for that in the good soil, these are the

ones who, when they hear the Word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart and bear fruit

with patient endurance.”  Luke 8:4-8; 11-15

Song of Praise to the Lord for His Salvation and Judgment

The Lord has made known His Salvation;

His Righteousness He has revealed in the sight of all nations! (Psalm 98:2)

Oh sing to the Lord a new song!

For He has done marvelous things.

His right hand and His Holy arm have gained Him the victory.

The Lord has made known His Salvation;

His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of all nations!

He has remembered His mercy

and His faithfulness to the House of Israel!

All the ends of the earth have seen the Salvation of our God!

Shout joyfully to the Lord all the earth;

Break forth in song, rejoice and sing praises.

Sing to the Lord with the harp,

with the harp and the sound of Psalm,

with trumpets and the sound of a horn;

Shout joyfully before the Lord, the King!

Let the sea roar and all its fullness.

The world and those who dwell in it;

Let the rivers clap their hands;

Let the hills be joyful together

before the Lord!

For He is coming to judge the earth,

With righteousness He shall judge the world

and the peoples with equity.  –Psalm 98:1-9
