For the Word of the Lord is upright
and all His work is done in faithfulness. –Psalm 33:4 (NRSVCE)

The Greatness and Goodness of God

Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous. Praise befits the upright.Praise the Lord with the lyre; Make melody to Him with the harp of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.

For the Word of the Lord is upright and all His work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

By the Word of the Lord the heavens were made and all their host by the breath of His mouth. He gathered the waters of the sea as in a bottle; He put the deeps in storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke and it came to be; He commanded and it stood firm.

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He frustrates the plans of the peoples.

The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations.

Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen as His heritage.

The Lord looks down from heaven, he sees all humankind. From where He sits enthroned He watches all the inhabitants of the earth — He who fashions the hearts of them all and observes all their deeds.

A king is not saved by his great army, a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. The war horse is a vain hope for victory and by its great might it cannot save.

Truly the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His steadfast love, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine.

Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and shield. Our heart is glad in Him because we trust in His holy name.

Let your steadfast love O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in You. –Psalm 33:1-22

This is the day that the Lord has made,
let us rejoice and be glad in it. –Psalm 118:24 (NRSVCE)

Song of Trust and Security in God

Protect me, O God, for in You I take refuge. I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord; I have no good apart from You.’

As for the holy ones in the land, they are noble, in whom is all my delight.

Those who choose another god multiply their sorrows; their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or take their names upon my lips.

The Lord is My chosen portion and My cup; You hold mt lot. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage.

I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; In the night also my heart instructs me. I keep the Lord always before me because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices; My body also rests secure. For You do not up me up to Sheol (Hell) or let Your faithful one see the Pit.

You show me the path of life. In Your presence there is fullness of joy. In Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. –Psalm 16:1-11

The Cup of Blessing that we Bless, is it not a sharing in the Blood of Christ?
The Bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the Body of Christ?
There is One Bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.
1 Corinthians 10:16-17 (NRSVCE) Image Courtesy: TLM

The Institution of the Lord’s Supper

For I have received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when He was betrayed took a loaf of bread and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My Body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”

In the same way He took a cup also after supper saying, “This cup is the New Covenant in My Blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.

Partaking of the Supper Unworthily

Whoever therefore eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be answerable for the body and blood of the Lord. Examine yourselves and only then eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For all who eat and drink without discerning the body, eat and drink judgment against themselves. –1 Corinthians 11:23-29

  • Jesus speaking: “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who BELIEVE in Me, even though they die, will live and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.” –John 11:25-26

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who BELIEVES in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.

Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the wold but in order that the world might be SAVED through Him. –John 3:16-17

Jesus The (Only) Way To The Father

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. BELIEVE in God, BELIEVE also in Me. In My Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to Myself so that where I am, there you may be also and you know the way to the place where I am going.”

Thomas said to Jesus, ‘Lord, we do nor know where you are going. How can we know the way?’

Jesus said to him, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. –John 14:1-6

Jesus appeared once for all at the end of the age to remove sin by the sacrifice of Himself and just as it is appointed for mortals to die once and after that the judgment. –Hebrews 9:26B-27 (NRSVCE)

  • Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven has come near. –Matthew 3:2

“It is written, ‘One does not live by bread alone
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” –Matthew 4:4

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.

Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through Him. –John 3:16-17

For they reasoned unsoundly, saying to themselves, “Short and sorrowful is our life and there is no remedy when a life comes to its end and no one has been known to return from Hades (Hell). For we were born by mere chance and hereafter we shall be as though we had never been, for the breath in our nostrils is smoke and reason is spark kindled by the beating of our hearts; When it is extinguished, the body will turn to ashes and the spirit will dissolve like empty air.

Our name will be forgotten in time and no one will remember our works; Our life will pass away like the traces of a cloud and be scattered like mist that is chased by the rays of the sun and overcome by its heat. For our allotted time is the passing of a shadow and there is no return from our death because it is sealed up and no one turns back.

“Come therefore, let us enjoy the good things that exist and make use of the creation to the full as in youth. Let us take our fill of costly wine and perfumes and let no flower of Spring pass us by. Let us crown ourselves with rosebuds before they wither. Let none of us fail to share in our revelry; everywhere let us leave signs of enjoyment because this is our portion and this is our lot. Let us oppress the righteous poor man, let us not spare the widow or regard the gray hairs of the aged but let our might be our law of right for what is weak proves itself to be useless.

Let us lie in wait for the righteous man because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions; he reproaches us for sins against The Law and accuses us of sins against our training. He professes to have knowledge of God and calls himself a child of the Lord. He become to us a reproof of our thoughts, the very sight of him is a burden to us because his manner of life is unlike that of others and his ways are strange. We are considered by him as something base and he avoids our ways as unclean; He calls the last end of the righteous happy and boasts that God is his Father. Let us see if his words are true and let us test what will happen at the end of his life; For if the righteous man is God’s child, he will help him and will deliver him from the hand of his adversaries. Let us test him with insult and torture so that we may find out how gentle he is and make trial of his forbearance. Let us condemn him to a shameful death for according to what he says, he will be protected.”

Error of the Wicked

Thus they reasoned but they were led astray, for their wickedness blinded them and they did not know the secret purposes of God, nor hoped for the wages of Holiness, nor discerned the prize for blameless souls; For God created us for incorruption and made us in the image of His own eternity but through the Devil’s envy death entered the world and those who belong to his company experience it. –Wisdom 2:1-24

For the wages of sin is death but the Free Gift of God is Eternal Life
in Christ Jesus Our Lord. –Romans 6:23

The Greatness and the Goodness of God

I will extol You, my God and King and bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You and praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. His greatness is unsearchable.

One generation shall laud Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of Your majesty and on Your wondrous works, I will meditate. The might of Your awesome deeds shall be proclaimed and I will declare Your greatness. They shall celebrate the fame of Your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of Your righteousness.

The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

The Lord is good to all and His compassion is over all that He has made.

All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord and all Your faithful shall bless You.

They shall speak of the glory of Your Kingdom and tell of Your power, to make known to all people Your mighty deeds and the glorious splendor of Your Kingdom.

Your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom and Your domain endures throughout all generations.

The Lord is faithful in all His words and gracious in all His deeds. The Lord upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to You and You give them their food in due season.

You open Your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.

The Lord is just in all His ways and kind in all His doings.

The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of all who fear Him, He also hears their cry and saves them.

The Lord watches over all who love Him but all the wicked He will destroy.

My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord and all flesh will bless His Holy Name forever and ever. –Psalm 145:1-21

Restore to me the JOY of Your salvation and sustain in me a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways and sinners will return to You. –Psalm 51:12-13 (NRSVCE)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

There is a river whose streams make glad the City of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.

God is in the midst of the city, it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns. The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter, He utters His voice, the earth melts. The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Come behold the works of the Lord; See what desolations He has brought on the earth; He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear, He burns the shields with fire.

“Be still and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth.”

The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. –Psalm 46:1-11

For the Son of Man is to come with His angels in the glory of His Father
and then He will repay everyone for what has been done. –Matthew 16:27 (NRSVCE)

The Glorious New Creation

For I am about to create new heavens and a new earth;

The former things shall not be remembered or come to mind but be glad and rejoice forever in what I am creating;

For I am about to create Jerusalem as a joy and it’s people as a delight.

I will rejoice in Jerusalem and delight in My people, no more shall the sound of weeping be heard in it or the cry of distress.

No more shall there be in it an infant that lives but a few days or an old person who does not live out a lifetime; for one who dies at a hundred years will be considered a youth and one who falls short of a hundred will be considered accursed.

They shall build houses and inhabit them;

They shall build vineyards and eat their fruit. –Isaiah 65:17-21

For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins — you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe and push the needy in the gate.

Therefore the prudent will keep silent in such a time for it is an evil time.

Seek good and not evil that you may live and so the Lord, the God of hosts will be with you just as you have said. –Amos 5:12-14
