Enter Through the Narrow GateEnter through the narrow gate.  For the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the roads is hard that leads to life and there are few who find it.

The CrossRejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstance, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12

Prepare For ChristWhat does it profit them if they gain the whole world but lose or forfeit themselves? Those who are ashamed of Me and of My Words, of them the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His glory and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. Luke 9:25-26 Image Courtesy: Gadel

Peter’s Declaration About Jesus

Once when Jesus was praying alone with only the disciples near Him He asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” They answered, ‘John the Baptist but others Elijah and still others that one of the ancient prophets has arisen.’

Jesus said to them, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, ‘the Messiah of God.’

Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection

Jesus sternly ordered and commanded them not to tell anyone saying, “The Son of Man must undergo great suffering and be rejected by the Elders, Chief Priests, Scribes and be killed and on the third day be raised.”

Then Jesus said to them, “If any want to become My followers let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow Me. For those who want to save their life will lose it and those who lose their life for My sake will save it.”  Luke 9:18-24

WorryingCan any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?  Matthew 6:27

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow.. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you — you of little faith? So do not worry saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Pagans run after all these things and your heavenly Father knows that you need them but seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.  Matthew 6:25-34

Treasures in HeavenBlessed are the Poor in Spirit For Theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven Matthew 5:3

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The eye is the lamp of the body so if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light but if your eye is unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness.  Matthew 6:19-23

PrayerWhenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.  Matthew 6:6

When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him – Pray then in this way:

Our Father in heaven
hallowed be Your name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts
as we also have forgiven our debtors
and do not bring us to the time of trial but rescue us from the evil one.

For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:7-15
