US Atty Gen Holder: ‘The Obama Administration Has Put a Real Value on the Rule of Law’

(Politico) White House Press Secy Jay Carney said today that President Obama is a “strong defender” of the 1st Amendment and a “firm believer” that the press should not be blocked in its reporting, adding that the Dept of Justice (DoJ) must also be able to investigate criminal activity of itself.

How does that work?

The Washington Post reports in a sweeping and unusual move the DoJ secretly obtained two months of  telephone records, cell phone records, home telephone numbers of AP Reporters and Journalists in what the AP’s President has called a “massive and unprecedented intrusion” into news gathering activities–seeking information beyond what could be justified by any specific probe, which potentially ‘reveals communications with ‘confidential sources’ that the govt has no conceivable right to know.’

How is it, that the Obama Administration puts a real value on the rule of law as U.S. Atty Gen Eric Holder has claimed or that the Obama Administration is a strong defender of a free press?
