Raising of the Flag on Iwo Jima
The U.S. Post Office first began selling this stamp 5 months after the flag raising, on the first day of issue people stood in line on a sweltering hot July 1945 day to purchase the postage stamp.
For years, this had been the biggest selling stamp in history over 137 Million sold.
