Atheist Group Calls Out Christians with 20 Billboards in Sioux Falls, SD -Image: KDLT
(Catholic Online) The billboards include messages such as “Praying Doesn’t Work” – “God Didn’t Create Man” – “Why are So Many Believers Full of Hatred of Others?” – ‘Why are So Many Believers Intolerant of Others’ Beliefs?”
According to KDLT News Dale Hemming, founder of both the Sioux Falls Atheists and Sioux Falls Free Thinkers, he decided to post the extremely and entirely unwarranted anti-religious messages simply because he wanted to encourage others to follow his belief to disbelieve.
“I really want people to start and think about this stuff,” Hemming explained. “Just parroting what you’ve been taught as a child is not a very good way to go through life. you have to go beyond what you were told at six years old.”
Apparently, Hemming was not told (taught) to be respectful of others and their decisions to believe in whatsoever they choose at six years old.
Interestingly many Atheists cling to intolerance and a superiority complex as driving forces to spread their non-belief.
One is reminded what Jesus said to his disciples in matters of this nature: “Occasions for stumbling are bound to come but woe to anyone by whom they come. It would be better for you if a millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea than for you to cause one of these little ones to stumble.” Luke 17:1-2
Well known Atheist groups such as ‘Freedom From Religion Foundation’ have been known to invade school football games and Bible clubs following a similar pattern–demanding people think for themselves while hypocritically telling them why and what to believe.
KDLT News reports former Pastor Randy Stewart said, that if the tables were turned this would be a different story.
“Freedom of Speech he has the right to say it but if we tried to take the opposing view, I suspect that he and his organization would do everything they could try and repress it.”
Hemming has acknowledged most people will not pay much attention to his billboards and will refuse to change their beliefs admitting, “I want to raise awareness of the kinds of things I think people should be aware of.”
The billboards will remain posted for six weeks with others coming up to join them within the next two weeks — All that Christians can do is turn a blind eye to the extremely offensive billboards, praying that God touches the heart of Hemming and others like him.
