Georgia Town May Soon Make Gun Ownership Mandatory

Gerogia Town May Require Gun Ownership --KFI 640 AM

(KFI 640AM Los Angeles) Residents of Nelson, GA (population 1,317 in 2011) may soon have more than the right to bear arms–they could soon be legally required to.

With just one police officer in the community that straddles two counties, Nelson residents face long police response times, so local officials are introducing the “Family Protection Act” that would mandate that every head of household to maintain a firearm with ammunition.

Of course there would be plenty of exemptions for felons and for residents with religious objections and local officials say they don’t intend to actually enforce the statute–Nelson, isn’t the first town in the nation to ponder a firearms requirement notes The Week among the others are: Kennesaw Georgia, Sabattus Maine, Virgin Utah and Spring City, Utah
